Origin and background
This catchy tune was written by Malvina Reynold (1900 - 1978) in 1957. Many of her songs refer to a political background (protest songs), sung by famous American folk singer (e.g. "What have they done to the rain" and "It isn' t nice"). But this comforting lullaby about a ride through the night has no political background at all. It was performed by many artist, the best known version was recorded by The Seekers.
