About This Collection
Nine recordings made with acoustic instruments and the simplest possible production — voice, guitar or piano, and space to breathe. The Acoustic Sessions collection exists because some songs are most themselves when stripped of everything unnecessary.
These are familiar songs that most children already know in one form or another: "Hush, Little Baby," "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Rock-a-Bye Baby," "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." What makes these particular recordings distinctive is the intimacy of the treatment. There is no percussion, no orchestration, no attempt to fill the room. Just the melody, cleanly played, with a warmth that comes from good musicians recording in a good space.
Acoustic recordings have a way of sounding timeless that other arrangements sometimes struggle to achieve. These versions would not sound out of place being played on a front porch a hundred years ago, or being streamed tonight while a child drifts off to sleep. They are, in the best sense, unimprovable.
