Brahms Lullaby (Audio Sample and Lyrics)

Lullaby, and goodnight,
In the sky stars are bright,
Round your head, flowers gay,
Set your slumbers till day.

Close your eyes now and rest,
May these hours be blest,
Go to sleep now and rest,
May these hours be blest.

Lullaby, and goodnight,
In the sky stars are bright,
Round your head, flowers gay,
Set your slumbers till day.

Close your eyes now and rest,
May these hours be blest,
Go to sleep now and rest,
May these hours be blest.

Close your eyes now and rest,
May these hours be blest,
Go to sleep now and rest,
May these hours be blest.

Origin and background

A German lullaby, written by Johannes Brahms, a famous German composer (1833 - 1897). The original work was published in 1868: Wiegenlied: Guten Abend, gute Nacht ("Good evening, good night"), Op. 49, No. 4. We recorded a version of this arrangement with the original German lyrics: Guten Abend, gut' Nacht. 'Brahms Lullaby' is one of very few German lullabies that became popular in England too.
