Origin and background

Obviously this is one of the best known shanties all over the world. It became even more popular when an English artist by the name of Tony Sheridan recorded the song in a new arrangement back in 1961. His backing band was a young group from Liverpool: The Beat Brothers who became famous shortly after as "The Beatles". Our arrangement for the nursery rhyme collection is a tribute to the Beatles' first professional recording.
