The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole the tarts
And took them clean away.
The King of Hearts
Called for the tarts
And beat the Knave full sore
The Knave of Hearts
Brought back the tarts
And vowed he'd steal no more.
I'm the Queen of Hearts
I did some tarts
All on a summer's day;
I'm the Knave of Hearts
And I stole the tarts
And I took them clean away.
I'm the King of Hearts
And I called for the tarts
And I beat the Knave full sore
I'm the Knave of Hearts
And I brought back those tarts
And I vowed I'll steal no more.
(Queen: You better not,
young man!)
Knave: No more!

No more

(Knave: Well I don't know about that,
I mean,
they were there for the taking,
weren't they?
I mean, I can't promise nothing
I mean I'm just a knave,
I don't know what
I'm doing half of the time,
I mean, if they're there
and the opportunity arises.
I mean
I just gonna take them away,
aren't I?
Queen: Off with his head!
King: Off with his head!

The origin of this nursery rhyme lies in Lewis G. Carroll's famous book Alice in Wonderland, which was first published in 1805. The Queen of Hearts is taken from a pack of cards and so are the other participants: The King of Hearts and The Knave of Hearts. Enjoy the story and the great musical arrangement by Rick Benbow.
