Lyrics
It's getting late, it's nearly time for bed,
I'm feeling tired,
I hear you say.
Is that teddy ready for bed?
Has he pulled his pyjamas
Over his head?
I brushed my teeth
And I've combed my hair,
I'm going to have a story
With my teddy bear.
Tick, tock, look at the clock,
Got to get ready,
Off I trot.
Is that teddy ready for bed?
Has he pulled his pyjamas over his head?
I've had my supper
And I've had my fun,
And when I get up
I'll do it all again.
It's getting late
And it's time for bed,
I'm feeling tired,
I hear you say.
Is that teddy ready for bed?
Has he pulled his pyjamas over his head?

History & Background
History & Origin
"Is That Teddy Ready for Bed?" is an original children's song written by Pete Bradbury in 2011 for the Nursery Rhymes Collections. It was recorded at Comfy Towers Recording Studios as part of the wider project of bringing together a comprehensive collection of children's music performed by real musicians.
The song charts the familiar bedtime sequence: brushing teeth, combing hair, checking that teddy is dressed in his pyjamas, having a story, and settling in for sleep. The repeated question — "Is that teddy ready for bed? Has he pulled his pyjamas over his head?" — gives children something to answer, and the involvement of the teddy bear in the bedtime routine makes the song a useful companion to the process of going to sleep.
The gentle, reassuring character of the song reflects the wider philosophy of the collections: that children's music should be warm and carefully made, performed with real feeling on real instruments rather than produced cheaply and quickly. This is a song for the last quiet minutes of the day.
